Record it as an external payment, from the Transactions page or from the invoice. Use this only for money that didn't come through Streamlined, such as cash or a check deposited at your own bank.
Payments you shouldn't record
Card and bank debit payments, bank transfers to the details on your invoices, and checks mailed to your lockbox show up on their own. Recording them too counts the money twice. If one of those hasn't appeared, find the payment your customer says they sent.
Record a payment from Transactions
Go to Transactions, click Record transaction, and choose External payment under Transaction type.
Enter the Amount, and under Payment received by choose Bank transfer, Cash, Check, or Credit / Debit card.
Enter the Transaction date, which can't be in the future.
Choose the Customer, click + Add invoices, and pick the invoice or invoices it pays.
Add a Memo if you like, such as the check number, and click Save.
Note: You have to pick at least one invoice, so the customer must have received an invoice from you.
Record a payment from an invoice
Open the invoice, click More actions (⋯), and choose Record external payment. The customer and invoice are filled in for you.
What happens after you record it
The invoice balance drops right away. If the invoice is in QuickBooks, the payment syncs there too.
Streamlined can't refund a payment you recorded yourself, because the money never moved through Streamlined. Refund it the way you received it.
If you recorded a payment by mistake, email help@streamlinedpayments.com with the invoice number, the amount, and the date you recorded it.
Tip: To lower an invoice's balance without a payment, for a discount or a write-off, record a credit note instead.
