Edit an order that came from Shopify

Make changes in Shopify so they stay on the invoice, and re-sync an invoice that's out of date.

Edit the order in Shopify. For an order that came from Shopify, Shopify is the source of truth for items, quantities, prices, discounts, shipping, and addresses. Streamlined follows it.

Why changes made in Streamlined disappear

When Shopify reports a change to the order, or you re-sync it, Streamlined reloads the order's contents from Shopify. Anything you changed only in Streamlined, such as a line item or a shipping charge, is replaced by what Shopify has. This keeps the invoice matching the order. Make the change in Shopify and it stays.

Payment terms work both ways. Terms set in Shopify carry over. When you issue the invoice, or change its issue or due date in Streamlined, Streamlined writes the terms back to the Shopify order.

What an edit in Shopify changes

  • Draft: the draft updates to match the order.

  • Issued, nothing paid: items and total update, and the balance due follows. A change to net terms moves the due date. Removing every line item voids the invoice.

  • Issued and partly paid: items and total update, unless the new total would be less than what's already been paid. Then the invoice stays as it is.

  • Fully paid: the total doesn't change.

Re-sync an invoice that didn't update

  1. Check whether the invoice is fully paid, or partly paid with a new total below the amount paid. Those don't change.

  2. Check whether Do not update invoices after they are issued is on in the store's Settings.

  3. On a draft, click Re-sync on the Shopify card.

  4. On an issued invoice, click Sync Shopify (↻) at the top.

A re-sync pulls in the latest order even when Do not update invoices after they are issued is on. If the invoice still doesn't match the order, email help@streamlinedpayments.com with the Shopify order number and the invoice number.

Keep your edits on issued invoices

If your team adjusts invoices in Streamlined after issuing them, open the store's Settings and turn on Do not update invoices after they are issued. Issued invoices then ignore Shopify edits and cancellations. Drafts still update. See why a total didn't change after an edit.
