You can pass the card processing fee to customers who pay an invoice by card. You can also exempt some customers or small invoices. Your customers always see the fee and agree to it before they pay.
Pass card fees to customers
If you don't pass the fee on, you pay it. To see your card pricing, open Card payment in Settings > Payments and look under Pricing.
Go to Settings > Payments and click Card payment.
Under Card fees, check Pass card fees to customers.
Click Save changes.
What your customer sees
When a fee applies, the card payment form shows a checkbox: "I acknowledge that a convenience fee of ... will be added to my invoiced total of ...". Your customer has to check it before they can pay. The confirmation shows the total they paid, fee included.
Customers paying by bank transfer, bank debit, or check never pay a card fee.
Exempt some customers
Tag the customers you want to exempt, for example "No CC Fee".
Open the customer and add the tag under Tags on the Profile tab.
In Settings > Payments > Card payment, under Pass card fees to customers, check Exclude tagged customers.
Enter the tag and click Save changes.
A customer with any of the tags you list never pays the card fee. The setting shows which customers it covers.
Tip: Tags match whatever their capitalization, so "no cc fee" matches "No CC Fee".
Waive the fee on small invoices
Check Waive the fee on small invoices and enter an amount. Smaller payments don't carry the fee.
Offer card only to some customers
On Scale and Enterprise, you can offer card payment only to customers with certain tags. Go to Settings > Checkout. Under Payment options, set Only offer card payments to customers with these tags. See checkout settings.
Who can use this feature?
Team members with Settings access, and Customers access to tag a customer
Available on all plans. Offering card only to tagged customers is on Scale and Enterprise.
