A recurring invoice issues and emails a copy of the same invoice on a schedule, such as monthly on the 15th. Each one is a normal invoice with its own number, due date, and payment link.
Set up a recurring invoice
Go to Invoices > Draft, click Create invoice, and add the customer and line items.
Under Billing schedule, choose Recurring and pick the Invoice frequency: Twice a month, Monthly, Every 3 months, or Yearly.
Pick a First invoice date (or First invoice month) in the future.
Under Ends, choose Never, or After and the month of the last invoice.
Click Save, then Schedule Invoice, and confirm the schedule.
For Twice a month, set On to 1st and 15th or 15th and last day of the month. A sentence under the form spells out the schedule, for example "Issues monthly on the 15th."
Note: Recurring is offered only on new drafts that haven't been scheduled. It isn't available for Shopify orders or together with milestones.
What happens on each date
Streamlined issues the invoice and emails it to your customer. Each new invoice is a copy of the one before, numbered in order with -1, -2, -3, and so on after the series number. A monthly invoice set for the 29th, 30th, or 31st goes out on the last day of shorter months. When the end date passes, the series stops.
Change a series
In Invoices > Scheduled, each series is one row with its frequency and next send date. Open it to see its schedule and sent invoices.
Click Edit to open the next invoice in the series.
Make your changes and save.
Your changes carry on to every invoice after it. Invoices already sent don't change. Edit those one at a time from Invoices > Sent. To change the payment terms on a series, email help@streamlinedpayments.com with the invoice number.
Stop a series
Open the series from Invoices > Scheduled and click Archive. Its scheduled invoices are cancelled, and sent invoices stay as they are.
There's no pause. To take a break, archive the series and set up a new one when you're ready.
To issue a single invoice on a future date instead, use Send later when you issue it.
