A customer in another country can pay by card, by international wire, or by bank debit in their own currency. ACH and lockbox are only for customers in your country paying in US dollars, so customers abroad don't see them.
What a customer abroad is offered
A customer is in another country when the country on their billing address is different from yours.
Bank transfer shows as an international wire to a US dollar account. Your customer can send it from any currency, and you receive US dollars. Customers in your country pay by ACH instead, on US dollar invoices only.
Bank debit uses the network for the invoice's currency: ACH for US dollars, ACSS for Canadian dollars, SEPA for euros, BACS for British pounds, and BECS for Australian dollars. It's offered when the customer's country matches that network.
Lockbox is only for US dollar invoices to customers in the US.
Card payment works in any currency, anywhere.
How the invoice currency affects bank debit
An invoice is in its customer's currency. That currency picks the bank debit network. For example, a customer in Canada with a Canadian dollar invoice can pay by ACSS debit. With a US dollar invoice, the same customer can't pay by bank debit, because US ACH debit is for customers in the US.
You can't change a customer's currency in the app. If one is wrong, email help@streamlinedpayments.com with the customer's name and the currency they should pay in.
Add the country to a customer's address
A customer with no country on their billing address is treated as being in the US. If they're abroad, they won't see the wire.
Go to Customers and open the customer.
On the Profile tab, under Addresses, click ⋯ on the billing address and choose Edit.
Choose the Country.
Save the address.
Refunds to customers abroad
Card or bank debit: the refund goes back to the card or account your customer paid from, in the currency they paid in.
Bank transfer, wire, check, or ACH credit: the refund goes out by ACH in US dollars. You pay a fee of 0.8% of the refund, capped at $5.
See refund a payment.
Note: An ACH refund needs a US bank account and routing number. A customer abroad without one can't be refunded this way.
